Lucifer's Mansion, Sunday Night

It had been another weird week. But enough of the weird - both from this week, and the ones before it - had apparently passed for Octavia and Lucifer to meet up at the house again on this Sunday evening for another date night.

The previously unfurnished room on the second floor was no longer unfurnished. Octavia didn't know whether Lucifer had noticed yet, especially since she'd left the door closed after she'd been done with it. She didn't know whether it would come into play yet, anyway.

And either way, they were downstairs, sitting down properly at the dining table. A gesture towards things Lucifer liked. And Octavia had cooked, even if the main had been just a very simple salad, which they were just about finished with. The equally simple dessert was still waiting in the fridge.

"Maybe one of these weeks you could give me a lesson." A beat. "You know, for cooking. We could make a thing of it."

[ooc: For, you guessed it, that guy.]

Octavia had looked down at her bowl. When she looked up again, he was still frowning.

"What?"

"Why are you being weird about the hold?"

[okteiviakom]

... Right.

How could she even word this? The gut reaction that came from more than one bad experience down there.

"It's just not the most comfortable place," Octavia muttered.

[my_own_advocate]

"I'm aware, but you did a thing."

[okteiviakom]

"A thing?"

[my_own_advocate]

"When you said it was better to put him somewhere else," Lucifer said. "You... spedran."

[okteiviakom]

Her face scrunched up again. "... I think was sitting down."

What a time to get hung up on a figure of speech, Tavi. Good job.

Lucifer sighed. "With your voice," he said. "And now you're dodging."

[okteiviakom]

Well, Octavia couldn't really refute that.

So she could sigh instead. "What is it that you want to know?"

"What I asked earlier," Lucifer said, quite practically, he felt. "Why are you being weird about the hold?"

[okteiviakom]

"Because nothing good's ever happened to me there."

Was that clear enough?

[my_own_advocate]

"Ah," Lucifer said, and took a sip of his wine. "Well, that makes sense."

[okteiviakom]

"Does it," Octavia replied, a little too mildly for it to actually sound like a question.

[my_own_advocate]

"...Yes?"

What, did she want to dive more deeply into it all of a sudden?

[okteiviakom]

Absolutely not, but sometimes stating the obvious deserved a flat answer.

Octavia picked up her own glass, and took a sip.

With no further comment forthcoming, Lucifer reached for his last bit of salad and gave it a thoughtful munching.

Thankfully, Octavia didn't seem that eager to dwell on it, either. (Hadn't put enough of a dent in her mood, for once.)

"Dessert's waiting in the fridge," she said, "I'll get it in a sec."

"Ooh, what did you make?" Lucifer asked, perking up.

"Just a fruit salad." Of course. "And then this... hazelnut and chocolate mousse thing, to put on top."

It was from an instant packet, yes. And also Octavia sounded like half those words didn't fit right in her mouth.

Lucifer chuckled. "You've been experimenting," he said. "I'm curious."

[okteiviakom]

"I tried," Octavia shrugged, and pushed away from the table to get up.

[my_own_advocate]

"I appreciate the effort," Lucifer said, smiling. Watching her move. "And the dinner."

[okteiviakom]

Octavia brushed her hand over his shoulder as she moved past him, to go get the dessert.

"Good."

[my_own_advocate]

He hummed something lightly pleased, and continued to watch her, occasionally sipping from the wine glass in his hand.

Octavia produced two little bowls from the fridge, then a little container of the mousse. She moved generous amount of the latter into both of the former, then brought those over to the table.

She set one down in front of him, along with a spoon.

"Here."
