Lucifer's Mansion, Very Late Friday Night

Octavia hadn't said much on the walk over from the club. Hadn't felt like it, for whatever reason. And there was worth to be found in silence on a late-night walk through town, anyway.

But they were here now. Just inside the door, and Octavia sighed and brushed her hair back from her face, and and seemed to try and inhale some sociability into herself.

"Do you have fruit?"

The odds didn't seem great. It wasn't like he was actually here a whole lot, these days.

"Before or after you carry me there?"

Octavia made sure to keep her voice even.

But it was still very soft.

Lucifer laughed softly, a little delighted. "Before," he said, reaching for his phone, "Because if I'm going to carry you up, I want you to have all of my attention for the next hour or so."

"Okay," Octavia murmured.

And stole a quick kiss against his cheek.

Lucifer typed out a quick text before slipping the phone back into his pocket.

He slid off the sofa. "There we are, then," he said softly, and turned so he could lift her up into his arms.

Octavia stood up, making that a little easier for him.

She also immediately reached up to put her arms around his neck.

He scooped her properly, which made that easier on her.

He threw her a smile - more besotted than he realized - and turned to walk towards the stairs.

Octavia noticed, but wasn't going to call him out on it.

She was watching his face, though. A little enthralled in her own quiet, mild way.

"I do like it when I have you all over me," Lucifer teased gently as he ascended the stairs.

Octavia snorted. "Predictable," she rasped. Neither could balance out the gentleness with which she rested her head against his shoulder.

She didn't ask for this often. But when she did, it was for a reason.

"You like me that way," Lucifer said.

He wasn't in any rush.

He just carried her up one flight of stairs, and then the next.

When had Octavia closed her eyes? Probably somewhere around the last couple of steps of the first flight of stairs.

There was just something soothing about the movement.

"Mm," she hummed. "Guess I do."

"Glad you admit it," Lucifer teased gently.

One more step, and they were on the top floor landing.

"There we are," he said, and swept through the doorway with her.

"That was fast," Octavia murmured.

It hadn't been.

"I can walk slower next time," Lucifer promised.

Took his time walking to the bed.

[okteiviakom]

"You better," Octavia rasped. Then, softer: "I'd like that."

No, she didn't seem to know which of her facets to show tonight.

Lucifer hummed softly.

He didn't set her down on the bed.

He sat down on it himself, his arms still full of her.

Oh.

Octavia's face turned a little more towards his neck.

[my_own_advocate]

"You didn't tell me to put you down," Lucifer murmured softly, holding her a little tighter.

[okteiviakom]

"You're being ridiculous," Octavia murmured.

Funny how her tone didn't actually manage to make it sound like much of an accusation. Or one at all, really.

"Did you want me to put you down?"

[okteiviakom]

"... No."

Shut up.

Lucifer laughed softly and looked at her. "Didn't think so," he said.

Octavia put in the effort of rolling her eyes (no matter how half-assed it ended up being), and retorted, "Did you want to put me down?"

"No," Lucifer said. "I'm rather beginning to like this."

[okteiviakom]

"Weirdo."

Said the woman watching him with that fond softness in her eyes.
