Lucifer's Mansion, Very Late Friday Night

Octavia hadn't said much on the walk over from the club. Hadn't felt like it, for whatever reason. And there was worth to be found in silence on a late-night walk through town, anyway.

But they were here now. Just inside the door, and Octavia sighed and brushed her hair back from her face, and and seemed to try and inhale some sociability into herself.

"Do you have fruit?"

The odds didn't seem great. It wasn't like he was actually here a whole lot, these days.

Octavia shrugged again.

On the side he wasn't currently skimming over a tattoo on, because she wasn't an idiot.

"You have the most charmingly strange mind," Lucifer said, tracing those simple lines thoughtfully.

Octavia snorted, softly. Her hand had slid a little further down from his shoulder, but was still doing its own gentle exploring along the expanse of his chest.

"Thank you?"

"I'm never bored with you," Lucifer murmured.

"That can mean many things," Octavia pointed out, mostly to be a pain.

She soothed it with a little lean in and a soft, light kiss against his cheek.

"It's a good thing," Lucifer said, his fingers sliding back up along her jaw.

[okteiviakom]

"Good," Octavia replied.

And touched her forehead to his.

Lucifer's eyes slipped shut.

(He definitely didn't deserve this.)

Her hands slid up his shoulders again, until they could rest against either side of his neck. And she was quiet for a few, slow breaths, again.

"You are a ridiculous man, Lucifer," she murmured. "In all the best ways."

Lucifer huffed softly. "There are best ways?" he murmured.

"Mm-hm." A beat. "Yours."

No, she wasn't going to leave it at that, no matter how clever it was.

"I mean, I'm pretty sure your getting our -- Duke a marina. That's ridiculous." She rubbed at the back of his neck a little. And her voice got quieter. "And I think he's gonna love it."

"Already paid for it," Lucifer murmured.

He let out a soft sigh. "I just want both of you to be happy."

"See?" Octavia replied wryly. "Ridiculous."

"It's not a ridiculous thing to want," Lucifer said quietly.

[okteiviakom]

Octavia sighed. "No," she agreed, "it's... beautiful."

Funnily enough, all the wry had fallen away from her voice all of a sudden. Or at least most of it.

"But have you met us?"

[my_own_advocate]

"Oh, I didn't think it would be easy," Lucifer promised her.

[okteiviakom]

"Well, just as long as you're a realist about it..."

[my_own_advocate]

"I have seen you two through a disaster or five," Lucifer said, and kissed her again.

Thus cutting off any reply Octavia might have had. For a little while, anyway, as she was busy kissing him back.

But, still. Eventually, she managed a murmured, "I like that you want us to be happy."

Neither of them had exactly had that enough in their lives.

Lucifer let out a soft huff and pressed his forehead against hers again.

"You deserve it," he said softly.

"I'm not so sure." Of course she wasn't. "But I'm not gonna tell you not to want that because of it."

Because she wanted him to want that.

Lucifer cupped her cheek with one hand. "Good," he said. "Just-- good."

Octavia's face tilted just barely towards his hand. Didn't want to disrupt anything else too much.

"Thank you."

He could take his pick.

Lucifer let out a soft huff of a breath.

It shuddered a bit in the middle, for whatever reason.

That kind of thing seemed to be happening a lot, lately.

Octavia's fingersrubbed at the back of his neck. Her voice got a little lighter. "You are my very favorite Devil."
