Lucifer's Mansion, Very Late Friday Night

Octavia hadn't said much on the walk over from the club. Hadn't felt like it, for whatever reason. And there was worth to be found in silence on a late-night walk through town, anyway.

But they were here now. Just inside the door, and Octavia sighed and brushed her hair back from her face, and and seemed to try and inhale some sociability into herself.

"Do you have fruit?"

The odds didn't seem great. It wasn't like he was actually here a whole lot, these days.

"You're being ridiculous," Octavia murmured.

Funny how her tone didn't actually manage to make it sound like much of an accusation. Or one at all, really.

"Did you want me to put you down?"

"... No."

Shut up.

Lucifer laughed softly and looked at her. "Didn't think so," he said.

Octavia put in the effort of rolling her eyes (no matter how half-assed it ended up being), and retorted, "Did you want to put me down?"

"No," Lucifer said. "I'm rather beginning to like this."

"Weirdo."

Said the woman watching him with that fond softness in her eyes.

"What's so strange about enjoying having a beautiful woman in my arms?" Lucifer countered.

[okteiviakom]

"Everything."

Translation: she didn't have a good argument for that.

"Says the expert, of course."

[okteiviakom]

Octavia's huff was as soft as everything else.

"You don't think I've had a beautiful woman in my arms before?"

[my_own_advocate]

"Oh, I'm sure you have," Lucifer said, amused. "Just not as often."

Octavia's head fell against his shoulder again. "Does that matter?"

"It is when we're talking about--"

Lucifer paused.

"Actually, none of that matters."

[okteiviakom]

"None of it?" Octavia replied, lightly. Or as light as she got, anyway.

One of her hands was slowly stroking the back of his neck. Had practically started up on its own.

"No," Lucifer said, leaning into that touch. "You're here, that's what matters."

"Okay," Octavia said, feeling no inclination to poke at it any further than that. Not when she could put more of her attention towards the small movements of her fingers, instead.

No shapes, just a slow, soothing back-and-forth. A small connection.

Lucifer's eyes slid shut. He let out a soft, contented sigh.

Octavia was watching his face. Or the sliver of it she could see, with her head resting against his shoulder, anyway.

"Beautiful," she murmured after a moment. Shamelessly stealing his line, for once.

Lucifer's mouth curved. "Thank you," he said softly. "Though perhaps I should set you down, now..."

"Probably, yeah," Octavia murmured with her lips cirved into a faint little something of her own.

Lucifer shifted, allowing her to slide from his arms onto the mattress. "A shame, really," he murmured as he settled over her.

[okteiviakom]

"Real shame," Octavia rasped as her hands reached for him again after a very short absence, returning to his shoulder and the back of his neck.

"Ah well," Lucifer said, and pressed his lips to hers.

Octavia's arm looped around his neck, to keep him close - as if he needed extra encouragemeny to stay close to her.

She kissed him, gentle but welcoming.
