As most days this week (and the one before that, and the one before that...) Octavia had spent most of the early parts of her day working around the marina. There was always maintenance work to be done, things to fix, areas to tidy. She knew how to do most of the usual things by now, too, and had less of a need for the local workers to show her the ropes, whether literal or figurative. She could just be helpful. Just that, and not a burden or a hindrance.

It settled something in her. At least a little.

But by now, her tasks for the day were done. She'd cleaned all of the maintenance grime off of herself, and was now sitting near where the Fin & Tonic was docked. Watching the water, listening to whatever noise was coming from elsewhere in the marina.

Thinking about home.

It had been another day of helping out around the marina, for Octavia. General maintenance and the odd little bit of something more like renovation. It was starting to feel a little less like a compulsion and a little more like something she was... choosing to do. Less a desperate search for distraction and more a genuine desire to make things better.

It was probably still at least a little bit the distraction thing still, though. She'd had her doctor's appointment postponed, and so she was still avoiding swimming, but at least she could still spend most of her time around water, if not all the way in it.

Like right now, sitting on the edge of an empty slip not too far from the Fin and Tonic. Letting her legs dangle over the edge, her feet just barely touching the water. It was a little like being back in port in Fandom.

Only she kind of missed the porgs.
