Lucifer's Mansion, Sunday Evening

The main course of the evening would be a nice salad, this week. And that meant Octavia was chopping a lot of fresh things into a bowl that was fast filling up.

"Finally a dish that caters to my skills," she rasped, glancing over at Lucifer putting his finishing touches on the dessert.

[ooc: For that gently modded guy, and likely some SP because that is the Sunday mood.]

Lucifer rolled his eyes.

He threw his piece of bread at her.

With a gasp, Octavia gave a little flail to bat it onto the table, then chuckled.

"Yeah, that's not really convincing me otherwise," she replied, picking up the piece of bread. "Just saying."

"Shut up and eat your food," Lucifer informed her.

Octavia made sure to really raise her eyebrows.

"Bossy," she noted.

"Your own fault," Lucifer huffed.

[okteiviakom]

"Even after you told me you'd be good tonight?" Octavia retorted. "I don't think so."

She popped the piece of bread he'd thrown at her into her mouth.

Lucifer reached for another piece of bread. "I was being good."

"You better not throw that at me."

[my_own_advocate]

"I'm eating it," Lucifer said, quasi-offended, and shoved some in his mouth.

It was a shame Duke wasn't here. He always enjoyed them when they were being children at each other.

"Better," Octavia said - laying the smugness on a little thick, there - and picked up her own fork again.

Bullying him about his dinner. This night was off to a good start.

(Unironically.)

Lucifer pulled an exaggerated face, then made a show of eating.

It wasn't Octavia's fault that he was kind of cute when he was a little huffy.

She gave another approving nod before shoveling more salad into her own mouth.

Lucifer focused on keeping his face straight (ha) as he tore through dinner.

It really was a very nice, if simple, salad. But sometimes you didn't want to mess with the classics.

Octavia was of the same mind, if from her own point of viee. Complexity could be nice, but simple meant she could really taste every part.

And fresh, good ingredients were yet to get old for her, even after two years.

It made it easy to just focus on the food for a while, not talking.

Soon enough, Lucifer's plate was empty, as was most of his glass.

He leaned back with it, watching her with a small smile.

Octavia picked at the last of the pieces of tomato and cheese on her plate. Careful and deliberate, as was the only way.

And as she pierced the last one onto her fork, she happened to glance up. "What?"

"Nothing," Lucifer said, and took a sip to hide that small smile.

Octavia gave a soft huff, like she was onto him, somehow.

But instead of pressing that point, she popped the last of the salad into her mouth, instead.

Lucifer... focused on his drink.

It was a very nice red wine. Yes.

Of course it was, he'd picked it himself.

Octavia chewed. Swallowed. Leaned back in her chair with a little sigh.

"Time for dessert?" Lucifer asked her, setting his glass down. "Or would you rather digest a bit?"

"No, I think you should wow me with your dessert, now."

See? She could play nice!

"Absolutely," Lucifer said, and grinned, sweeping up out of his seat.

He collected the bowl with the bananas, put the chocolate syrup on the stove and turned on the heat, and grabbed the ice cream from the freezer.

It was going to be excellent. Dammit.

Octavia was counting on it.

She pushed her chair away from the table a little bit, and turned it, just so she could watch him work.

Lucifer gave the chocolate a good stir so it wouldn't stick, and set the ice cream down on the counter to melt just a little bit.

Another stir.

After that, it was quick work: take the chocolate off the stove, put two scoops of ice cream in each bowl, and then drizzle-- quite a lot of chocolate all over both bowls.

"Behold," he said, grabbing the first bowl, and holding it up triumphantly-- then he turned 'round, dropped to one knee, and offered it to her.
