Lucifer's Mansion, Saturday Night

Yesterday, there'd been shopping. And today, there was...

Okay, Octavia was still not the most comfortable using words like 'date night'.

But it was probably a date night. She was even wearing a sleek black blouse with her black jeans, in an approximation of something Lucifer might like to see.

There'd also been a nice little meal, just now. And Octavia had even allowed herself a small glass of wine to go with it, the last of which she was making her way through now that they were cuddled up on the couch, still downstairs.

A little moment of rest before dessert, so to speak.

"That was delicious," she told Lucifer, her head tilted against his shoulder. "But it usually is."

"I wouldn't want to inflict a sub-par meal on you," Lucifer said, running his fingers along her arm.

It felt weird, with the unfamiliar fabric in between.

But still nice.

"Yeah, I've kind of figured you have that in common with Duke."

"Hence why I take Duke out to nice restaurants," Lucifer said. He leaned in, pressing a kiss to her cheek. "And you to my house with fresh produce."

Octavia smiled a little, under that kiss.

"Mm," she hummed. "I definitely enjoy my end of the deal."

"And that makes my end worth it," Lucifer said, running his fingers up through her hair. "I'm glad you're having a good time."

Octavia's eyes closed. Shut up, the hair was a weak spot - that was something she shared with Duke.

"Seems like I've been having a pretty good time in general, lately."

Since they'd come back.

"Yes," Lucifer said softly. "I'm glad to see it. For... all of us."

"Yeah," Octavia sighed. "Things have settled, haven't they?"

Enough that they could feel it.

"It's almost strange," Lucifer said. "Ah, good, of course--" He held up a hand to demonstrate that, "But... strange."

"Yeah."

She got it.

"Been a long time coming."

"I think we've earned it," Lucifer said softly.

He leaned in to kiss her properly.

Octavia's head tilted further to allow him to do that.

Like he'd earned it, too.

He lingered in the kiss for a long moment, his fingers moving through her hair.

"You're so beautiful," Lucifer murmured. "I appreciate the blouse."

"Good," Octavia murmured back, her free hand finding its way to splay against his chest. "I wasn't sure it was right."

Her approach to fashion outside of her comfort zone was... fumbly, at best.

Lucifer let out a soft huff. "It feels very... miss Octavia tries fashion," he teased gently. "Which is why I like it." He smoothed the fabric over her shoulder. "It's still you."

"Dark and no-fuss?" Octavia drawled, with a crooked little smirk.

(It pleased her, to hear that.)

"But still nice."

That smirk was irresistible. He kissed it.

But Octavia wasn't going to let that keep her from murmuring, "If I'd known that, I wouldn't have made such an effort making what's underneath interesting..."

Because it was important.

Lucifer laughed softly, voice low, "Are you asking me to unwrap you?"

"I'm giving you reasons to do so."

Because she was crafty like that.

Lucifer smiled. This time, when he went in for the kiss, his hands slid up under her blouse.

It was convenient like that, soft and loose on her. And underneath it, his hand met another layer of fabric a little lower than usual.

The laciness of it all was likely to be very obvious to the touch.

Octavia gave a tiny hum into the kiss, and teased at his lower lip with the tip of her tongue.

"I see you're just full of surprises," Lucifer breathed, and then parted his lips in a blatant invite.

His hands ran up higher, until they cupped her.

Some quip about just trying to make this good was completely lost to Octavia readily accepting that invite to deepen the kiss.

And to press further into his touch, too. What was even the point, really, if all those embroidered flowers didn't press into his palm?

None at all. He appreciated her dedication to texture. The feel of it, moving under his palm. Lucifer let her in, following her lead, making a soft noise in the back of his throat as the kiss grew deeper.
