Lucifer's Mansion, Saturday Evening

Guess there were some pretty obvious perks to Duke and Lucifer's newly-constructed pool in the basement of the mansion. Like the option of a quiet, private evening swim, which was exactly what Octavia had just indulged in.

What had then drawn her up onto the top floor of the house was unclear, but what had drawn her out onto the balcony was much easier to pinpoint: the waxing crescent moon, bright in the sky. Almost painfully obvious for her, for natshana, as much as she'd tried to put a little bit of distance between herself and... all of that.

It didn't feel much like distance at all, right now. Everything with her just kept coming back to objects in the sky, didn't it? This planet. The Ark. Eligius. Natshana, skaifaya -- en deimeika. Octavia watched the sickle-shape in the sky, and gave a little sigh, like something in her chest, her shoulders, was deflating.

A thought almost flitted through her head without anything actionable catching onto it. Almost. It was a song, something she'd heard recently, fed to her by whatever algorithm took over once whatever she'd been listening to before it had run out. Something she hadn't even let play all the way through, the first time around.

As she got her phone out, she wondered whether she was even going to find it.

She did.

She pressed play, and let it play quietly out into the darkness of the evening.

Yellow sun is shining in the afternoon; I'd really like to tell you, but I feel it's too soon...

"Because the creator felt it would be something a pornstar would drink," Lucifer said, sounding faintly dry about it, oddly enough. "I haven't the faintest why. It's just a solid cocktail."

"I didn't think that was a job where you should drink specific things," Octavia replied, more as agreement than anything else.

"Or at least whatever drink gets named after your profession should be filthier," Lucifer said. "Rather than a delightful martini with passionfruit."

"That's what it is?" Octavia asked.

Right before actually bringing the glass up to her lips, finally.

"Yes," Lucifer agreed, watching her. "Felt like your speed."

Octavia took a slow but appeciative sip, very her in the quiet contemplation of it.

She didn't look like she disapproved, swishing the taste around in her mouth.

Lucifer's mouth curved. "Do you approve?"

Octavia swallowed.

Then she reached up and pressed a light kiss against his cheek, murmuring, "I do."

"Good," Lucifer said, smiling. "You seem like you're having a decent night. Wouldn't want to make it worse."

Octavia shrugged one shoulder, and leaned the other against him.

"It's okay." The night, she meant. "The drink's good."

Lucifer slid his arm idly around her waist. "If it's just 'okay'," he said, "What's kept you here?"

Octavia made her lean a little more heavy in response, though while still making sure her drink remained fine and unspilled.

"Okay's not enough?" she asked.

"Well, I wouldn't linger in a place that made me feel just okay," Lucifer allowed.

"That's giving the place too much credit," Octavia pointed out. Or corrected him.

Either way, she did so gently, before taking another sip. (It was as tasty as the first one had been.)

"So it's more of a vibe," Lucifer surmised.

[okteiviakom]

"It's just me," Octavia confirmed. More or less. A faint hint of something wry in her expression. "And I'm fine with it."

"Of course you are," Lucifer sighed fondly. "That's my Octavia. Always content with 'okay'."

Octavia rolled her eyes. It just happened to happen at the same time as yet more leaning against him.

"I let you come over here, didn't I?"

"Ah," Lucifer said, nodding. "I do always improve a situation. Guilty as charged."

[okteiviakom]

"Some situations, anyway," Octavia quipped, if gently, and took another sip.

"All," Lucifer countered. "If nothing else, you'll always be able to enjoy my incredible arse."

[okteiviakom]

"This might be hard to believe," Octavia rasped, looking up at him, "but I'm not actually as obsessed with asses as some people seem to be."

"Shoulders?" Lucifer suggested. "Other body parts?"

[okteiviakom]

"Really?" Octavia retorted. "You're not going to try and sell me on the complete package of your body?"

"I didn't realize I needed to," Lucifer said, blinking. "I mean, look at me. I'm gorgeous."
