Lucifer's Mansion, Saturday Evening

Guess there were some pretty obvious perks to Duke and Lucifer's newly-constructed pool in the basement of the mansion. Like the option of a quiet, private evening swim, which was exactly what Octavia had just indulged in.

What had then drawn her up onto the top floor of the house was unclear, but what had drawn her out onto the balcony was much easier to pinpoint: the waxing crescent moon, bright in the sky. Almost painfully obvious for her, for natshana, as much as she'd tried to put a little bit of distance between herself and... all of that.

It didn't feel much like distance at all, right now. Everything with her just kept coming back to objects in the sky, didn't it? This planet. The Ark. Eligius. Natshana, skaifaya -- en deimeika. Octavia watched the sickle-shape in the sky, and gave a little sigh, like something in her chest, her shoulders, was deflating.

A thought almost flitted through her head without anything actionable catching onto it. Almost. It was a song, something she'd heard recently, fed to her by whatever algorithm took over once whatever she'd been listening to before it had run out. Something she hadn't even let play all the way through, the first time around.

As she got her phone out, she wondered whether she was even going to find it.

She did.

She pressed play, and let it play quietly out into the darkness of the evening.

Yellow sun is shining in the afternoon; I'd really like to tell you, but I feel it's too soon...

"So it's more of a vibe," Lucifer surmised.

"It's just me," Octavia confirmed. More or less. A faint hint of something wry in her expression. "And I'm fine with it."

"Of course you are," Lucifer sighed fondly. "That's my Octavia. Always content with 'okay'."

Octavia rolled her eyes. It just happened to happen at the same time as yet more leaning against him.

"I let you come over here, didn't I?"

"Ah," Lucifer said, nodding. "I do always improve a situation. Guilty as charged."

[okteiviakom]

"Some situations, anyway," Octavia quipped, if gently, and took another sip.

[my_own_advocate]

"All," Lucifer countered. "If nothing else, you'll always be able to enjoy my incredible arse."

[okteiviakom]

"This might be hard to believe," Octavia rasped, looking up at him, "but I'm not actually as obsessed with asses as some people seem to be."

"Shoulders?" Lucifer suggested. "Other body parts?"

[okteiviakom]

"Really?" Octavia retorted. "You're not going to try and sell me on the complete package of your body?"

[my_own_advocate]

"I didn't realize I needed to," Lucifer said, blinking. "I mean, look at me. I'm gorgeous."

Octavia leaned back enough that she could at least pretend to give him a once-over.

Then she made a noise like 'eh'. Rude.

"Now you know how I feel about lying," Lucifer chastised her.

[okteiviakom]

"You don't do it," Octavia replied on a huff, raising her glass again, "doesn't mean I can't. Anyway, who's lying?"

And sip.

"You think I'm attractive," Lucifer insisted. "We've had sex loads of times."

[okteiviakom]

"Don't humans have a vast history of having sex for other reasons, too?"

[my_own_advocate]

"Not eleven-hundred and thirty-six times of their own free will," Lucifer sniffed.

[okteiviakom]

The teasing fell away in favor of raised eyebrows and a look of surprise.

"... You've kept count?"

[my_own_advocate]

"We have very memorable sex," Lucifer said. "Though I may have missed half a hand job here or there, impossible to be certain."

[okteiviakom]

"Damn," Octavia said, continuing to look impressed.

At the number, or his memory? Probably both.

"We are very good at sex," Lucifer agreed. "Being brilliant and incredibly attractive people."

[okteiviakom]

"I don't know if that's entirely true," Octavia replied, a little slowly.

Her lips were getting around to curving faintly again, too, so she may have had a specific reason for saying that.

Lucifer tilted his head. "Hm?"

[okteiviakom]

"After all," Octavia pointed out, in a bit of a raspy drawl, "we're not having sex right now."

Tiny shrug.

"I don't know how brilliant of us that is."

[my_own_advocate]

"Ah," Lucifer said, a slow smile spreading across his face. "We can fix that, of course."
