Lucifer's Mansion, Sunday Evening

"I don't think I've got this."

It had been a while since the last Sunday night date night.

It felt like it had been forever. And Octavia's memories of the last date night of any day of the week at the house weren't great.

None of that was what was getting to her right this second.

"It's just not doing what I want, Lucifer."

She was trying to pipe some sort of ganache onto a thing of dessert in a dainty little bowl, and no, it was not going smoothly at all. As far as issues went, it would have been almost blissfully mundane, had it not also been so very frustrating.

"Always," Lucifer said, going in for another. "At any time."

"Really, any?"

"Yes," Lucifer agreed.

Octavia considered that for the length of another savored bite, then asked, "Even when I've just woken up and I can barely see or talk and I'm cranky as hell?"

"Absolutely," Lucifer said. "And you're beautiful in that moment."

Octavia gave a soft huff, digging further into the bowl again. "You know you don't have to flatter me into bed with you anymore, right?" she teased, all amused rasp. "Or any other surface, for that matter."

"I do," Lucifer said. "As well as you know that I don't lie."

He took another bite. Mmm.

"Flattery doesn't have to be lies," Octavia retorted.

Mostly just to be a brat.

"Can I not think of my own partner as extremely attractive, no matter what state she is in?" Lucifer inquired. "You could roll around in the dirt and stick branches in your hair and you'd still be a vision, I'm afraid."

"Oh, I know better than to ever attempt to get you to stop thinking something," Octavia replied, "even if for some reason I did want to."

"Good," Lucifer said, taking his last spoonful of dessert. "Because I rather enjoy thinking of you naked. All the time."

"I guess that's one way to pass the time," Octavia drawled, with a crooked little smirk, and licked her spoon.

"I can think of a few more," Lucifer said.

His eyes were tracking her tongue.

Octavia knew they were. It was why the rest of the lick was a little more pronounced than it needed to be, and slower, too.

"Tell me more."

"Right now," Lucifer said, "I'm thinking about... you, upstairs, picking out what you'd like to wear tonight."

He set his spoon down with barely a thought.

"I'm thinking about watching you undress," he said. "I'm thinking about putting everything you chose on you, one at a time."

Octavia was kind of careless about setting her own, now thoroughly clean spoon down, but at least she didn't miss the counter.

She was leaning a little closer again. "That's a lot of thoughts."

"What can I say," Lucifer said, his gaze flicking to her mouth. "You inspire me."

Her mouth curved into a little smirk.

And then he couldn't see it at all, because she leaned up to kiss him. And not quickly.

His hands slid up her back. Then, into her hair. And against her cheek.

Lucifer threw himself into that kiss, nipping at her bottom lip in playful challenge.

His hands went up, Octavia's went down: to his waist, sliding to his hips, then to his ass, pulling him tighter against herself.

She nipped back, a little harder but only briefly. Just another sensation for him to feel.

Lucifer made an appreciative noise. The first... stirrings... were making themselves known down where she'd pulled him in close.

He licked his way into her mouth.

Octavia's lips parted further for him, because there was zero reason for them not to. There was almost a sigh as she did, because this? This was easy, and maybe right now she needed that.

While one of her hands gave his behind a little squeeze hello.

Lucifer would have said 'hi' back out loud if he could, but his mouth was otherwise occupied.

He drew out the kiss. Taking his time exploring her mouth, letting the thrill of it stoke the embers in him back into something else.

His fingers slipped out of her hair, his fingernails scratching along the back of her neck.

Octavia shivered a little in response, and something in her shoulders seemed to give in somehow. Maybe it was just her settling fully into the moment.

Because that was where she seemed to be. Kissing him back, welcoming all of his exploration, if perhaps with a few playful grazes of her teeth here and there. Taking in every sensation.

Lucifer's hand kept going, going, over the cloth. Then he found the hem of her shirt, and slid his hand up underneath it.

He pressed her back against the counter.
