The Marina, Cat Island, Friday Afternoon

As most days this week (and the one before that, and the one before that...) Octavia had spent most of the early parts of her day working around the marina. There was always maintenance work to be done, things to fix, areas to tidy. She knew how to do most of the usual things by now, too, and had less of a need for the local workers to show her the ropes, whether literal or figurative. She could just be helpful. Just that, and not a burden or a hindrance.

It settled something in her. At least a little.

But by now, her tasks for the day were done. She'd cleaned all of the maintenance grime off of herself, and was now sitting near where the Fin & Tonic was docked. Watching the water, listening to whatever noise was coming from elsewhere in the marina.

Thinking about home.

It got kind of a wry look from Octavia.

"How fragile do you think my love is?"

"About as fragile as you are, I'd imagine," Lucifer teased gently.

"So you don't have much to worry about," Octavia concluded.

Lucifer leaned in to press a kiss to her cheek. "True."

[okteiviakom]

"If it turns out something your happy with," Octavia murmured in response, "then I'll be glad."

"Above all, I hope we can all enjoy it," Lucifer murmured. "And perhaps spend some more time in the house together."

[okteiviakom]

"That would be nice."

That was an even softer murmur.

[my_own_advocate]

"It's not that I dislike the Rouge. Not at all. It's home," Lucifer said softly. "I just. Like when the house is home, too."

[okteiviakom]

"It's yours," Octavia replied, quietly. "It was yours."

[my_own_advocate]

"It was quite lonely when it was just mine," Lucifer said. "I find myself quite taken by the idea of transforming it."

"I've noticed."

You know. In bits and pieces.

"Right," Lucifer said. "Sorry."

[okteiviakom]

"Sorry?" Octavia echoed, gently, looking at him. "What for?"

[my_own_advocate]

"Repeating myself?" Lucifer offered.

[okteiviakom]

"I don't think you were," Octavia told him, with a small shake of her head. "I just meant I've noticed. That's all."

[my_own_advocate]

"Oh." Lucifer shifted a bit. "Well."

He may have been embarrassed. About. Being caught caring.

Octavia definitely caught that there was something.

She was frowning faintly, looking him over. "What is it?"

"I just don't mean to make a big deal out of it," Lucifer muttered.

[okteiviakom]

"But it's home," Octavia replied, without hesitation. "Of course it's a big deal."

You were talking to an expert here, Lucifer.

"I just never looked at it this way before," Lucifer admitted. "And then you and Duke decided to start having date nights there as well, and I... well. I really like it."

Octavia suddenly felt an overwhelming urge to shift closer to him and slide an arm around him - so that was exactly what she did.

She gave him a squeeze.

"I don't fully understand it," Lucifer said, leaning into her.

[okteiviakom]

"Join the club," Octavia murmured, soft and wry. "If it's good, I don't think you need to."

[my_own_advocate]

"I suppose," Lucifer said softly. "It just... feels like making a part of my world yours, too. And making you part of my world. However much of it you feel comfortable with."

[okteiviakom]

"It's about making space," Octavia offered, resting her head against his shoulder. "And sharing."
