Summer's voicemail about the painting had come in yesterday. It was the first message from Fandom since they'd taken off before the holidays. And it felt a little like they were being called back. Like it was time to re-join real life again.

But not yet. Not just yet.

For now, Octavia had a picked a stretch of beach - not a particular one, just a nice one - to wade out into the water from. She was feeling the sun on her skin, some very gentle waves against her legs.

And just breathed.

Lucifer patted the bit of unoccupied chair in front of him. "Sit."

"Bossy," Octavia replied.

... And sat down in her newly assigned spot.

"You like it," Lucifer told her, spraying some lotion into his hands.

"Sometimes," Octavia retorted, over her shoulder.

[my_own_advocate]

"Suppose we do take turns," Lucifer mused, getting his hands all over her shoulderblades.

"That seems to be how it tends to go," Octavia sighed, letting her head fall forward a little. Mmm.

"Perhaps we should move some of our toys into one of the cabins," Lucifer mused. "Make that our mansion away from home."

Octavia gave a little snort, but she could feel a little shiver go down her spine at the thought.

"Might not be such a bad idea," she agreed, a little raspy.

"Get a mirror in, do things up just right," Lucifer mused. "Perhaps a sex swing..."

"Oh, we're finally thinking one of those?"

It had repeatedly come up before (even further back than Octavia could actually remember), in fairness.

"It feels like more of an ongoing conversation," Lucifer said, really digging his fingers into her shoulder.

"Fair," Octavia allowed, on another sigh. She would absolutely take a little massage to go with her sunscreen. "Just might actually manifest something."

"Unless someone decides to be snarky about it again," Lucifer teased.

[okteiviakom]

"Oh, I wouldn't dream of doing that."

[my_own_advocate]

"Excellent," Lucifer said, grinning. "I'll have one shipped in, then."

Ah, there was a knot, not far from her spine. Would've been worse a few weeks ago, he imagined, but he dug his thumbs into it anyway.

Octavia gave a low hum, letting herself relax further into it as her chin pressed closer to her chest.

"You do that."

Lucifer let out a soft, amused sound. "Happy?"

"Feels nice."

Same thing.

"Good," Lucifer said, smiling. "See, there are benefits to coming out of the sea."

His hands slid further down her back.

He was going to run out of uncovered skin to touch soon, unfortunately.

"I guess," Octavia rasped, sounding faintly amused.

As soon as his hands touched fabric, he slid his arms around her waist instead and hugged her in close. "You guess."

And what was Octavia to do then, except to lean back into it?

"Yes," she replied without missing a beat. "Got a problem with that?"

"You couldn't be a bit more certain?" Lucifer teased, dropping his chin onto her shoulder.

[okteiviakom]

"Shouldn't you be convincing me to be?" Octavia retorted, as her head tilted to rest against his.

[my_own_advocate]

Lucifer sighed, turned his head, and pressed a kiss into her neck. "What would you need for me to convince you?"
