Lucifer's Mansion, Sunday Night

As requested, date night dinner had been Thai, and delicious. And dessert, right now, also delivered on both because it was banana roti.

And yet, Octavia could barely focus on it at all. Because of a talk, earlier in the week, there was... an anticipation, here. Still a little vague, still only mostly-but-not-entirely certain. Just hanging over the scene at the table, unspoken of but present.

About half of Octavia's serving of roti was still there, though rapidly vanishing. "You can really taste the banana."

That should not have felt as nice as it did. Nor as much, somehow.

Octavia nodded, and brought the glass to her lips for one last sip. Then she held the now-empty glass out.

Lucifer smiled, and poured, his hand continuing to hover by her back. Leaning just a touch more into her space. "Hopefully this is up to your exacting fruit-adoring standards."

Octavia shifted just a little. Just enough that his hand pressed against her back, or her back pressed against his hand. Either way.

"Let's find out," she rasped.

And took a sip.

Lucifer watched her face... closely.

Like her judgment was important to him. (Or he just liked to watch her lips move...)

Whatever the reason, Octavia knew he was watching her, so... Maybe she did everything a little slower than she strictly speaking needed to.

Or, hey. Maybe she just wanted to be thorough about this first sip. Really feel it all over her tongue to get the full taste.

And then she swallowed, to give her verdict. "Well, it's got that cidery taste I've never really gotten used to," she said. "But the taste of fruit is... very good."

Lucifer, who had swallowed with her, managed a, "Hm?" and then a, "Duly noted. About the, ah. Cider taste."

Did he know his distraction was very attractive?

Octavia hid her little smirk behind taking another sip.

"Suppose, ah, it's my turn," Lucifer said, reaching for the wine with his free hand.

He poured a measure of it into his glass, leaning into her a touch.

"Yeah," Octavia said. Still smirking a little bit, if faintly. "Tell me if it's good."

"Mm," Lucifer said, in favor of the 'I'm sure it is' kneejerk defense of his wine collection that bubbled up.

He brought the glass up to his mouth.

Took a considering sip.

Octavia, for the record, was also sure it was good. But that wasn't really the point.

She watched him. Keenly. "Good."

"It'll do," Lucifer said, oh-so-absently licking a small drop of wine from his bottom lip.

That was all the prompt, or encouragement, or incentive that Octavia needed to just go for it.

Wherein 'go for it' meant reaching up to kiss him.

Oh, hello. And what was Lucifer but helpless to go along with it when she did? To kiss her back like he'd been waiting for her.

Octavia was still holding her glass, but her other hand was free to slide to his side and curl into his shirt, tugging him just a little closer.

Nothing hesitant about her kiss, this time. Very confident, bordering on hungry.

(Amazing how it changed things when she felt safe from expectations, safe within the guidelines of their plan.)

And Lucifer-- well, he was delighted by this turn. It was already more than he'd expected of this night. And so he took it, and fed her hunger, nibbling on her bottom lip as his hand grew firmer against her back.

He'd missed this side of her.

"You taste like wine," Octavia breathed, somewhere in the middle of it.

Just an idle observation that seemed... precious, after the last while.

"And yet," Lucifer murmured, a smile in his voice, "You taste more like banana than strawberry."

"There's a dirty joke in that somewhere," Octavia rasped.

And nipped on his lip. Just a little.

Lucifer chuckled. "Mm, at least you've enjoyed some banana recently?" he tried, and nipped after her, playful.

Octavia snorted.

And kissed him again. It was not gentle.

Lucifer made a soft noise against her mouth, pleased and perhaps a touch— turned on. He reached up and cupped her cheek.

Oh, Octavia knew that noise, and all it could signify.

Her head tilted into the touch as best it could, while she tried to encourage him to press closer to her.

Lucifer shifted, until his back was pressed against the table. That made it easier to take her fully into his arms, though it did mean his lips skimmed over her cheek and jaw for a moment before he found her lips anew.

Octavia could use that moment to breathe, anyway. And to slid her glass onto the table before she tipped it all over herself or him.

Which also freed up her hand for... well, getting a little more handsy with him. Just roaming over his chest.
