The Cape Rouge, Friday Morning
Octavia hadn't been sleeping well. Night after night, she kept waking up every hour and a half or so, just to make sure she could still hear two other people breathing in bed with her. If they were quiet, she would hold her own breath until she was sure she could hear them, or she felt them move, or something.
It wasn't making for very restful nights, but she'd survive. She always did.
Granted, on Friday morning, that survival involved giving up on trying to stay asleep, slipping quietly out of bed and making her way into the galley. She got the coffee going, because she might as well. If actual rest wasn't going to give her energy, then maybe caffeine would at least keep her going.
She'd also made sure to leave the bedroom door open more than enough that if anyone else was awake, or woke up, they would either be able to hear her puttering away, or at the very least be able to smell the coffee sooner rather than later.
She hadn't vanished. She wasn't going to let anyone think she had, either.
(It felt like the least she could do.)

That she went to pick up her coffee mug again as she said that was a complete coincidence.
"I'll get there. Eventually."

Then: "How's your trouble?"
no subject
Tilted her head just a fraction.
"I haven't thought about it," she admitted.

"What's that mean?" she asked. It didn't sound like an accusation, for what it was worth: just a genuine bit of slightly odd confusion.

It was one of the most honest things she'd said all week, probably. And followed up with a sigh.

It was a very weak attempt at a joke.
She was just going to pick up her coffee again, now.

Lucifer took another sip of his coffee. "We could go for a walk, in a bit?"
no subject
She took a long sip.

He turned his attention to his coffee for a moment.

She'd been stealing these moments here and there, over the past week. As if there was something... different, that she might spot.

He still hadn't heard from Amenadiel.
"Mhm," he hummed, reaching for the whiskey. Not because he needed his coffee spiked, but because it was better than lingering on why she was... lingering.

And after taking her moment, she put her coffee down and went to finish her bits of fruit. You no longer had a spotlight on you, Lucifer.

He drank his spiked coffee in silence. And-- "Perhaps we can pick up ice cream on the way."
He had a craving.
