Lucifer's Mansion, Sunday Night

As requested, date night dinner had been Thai, and delicious. And dessert, right now, also delivered on both because it was banana roti.

And yet, Octavia could barely focus on it at all. Because of a talk, earlier in the week, there was... an anticipation, here. Still a little vague, still only mostly-but-not-entirely certain. Just hanging over the scene at the table, unspoken of but present.

About half of Octavia's serving of roti was still there, though rapidly vanishing. "You can really taste the banana."

"So were you," Octavia murmured, her lips curving further as she looked aside. Like she had something to be bashful about.

Maybe it was just the gentleness of him fixing her hair.

Lucifer chuckled softly. "You inspired me," he said.

"Well, it worked," Octavia replied, eyes flicking back to meet his because she couldn't actually stay away. "Like a lot. I wasn't... I didn't think it would go this well."

"Apparently this is what happens when I don't get in your way," Lucifer said softly. "I'm-- very glad."

"I could've still gotten in my own way," Octavia replied, though not with as much of a wry tone as she might usually have gone for. Maybe she was still too far in the afterglow. "And you stayed out of my way beautifully."

Lucifer let out a soft laugh. "Well," he said. "At least we know for sure that Octavia is still there."

"She is," Octavia murmured.

Paused.

"And she's really looking forward to the shopping we'll have to do once I... make some more progress."

Lucifer let out a soft laugh. "Mm, we were serious about that, were we?" he teased softly. "Any time you'd like to, darling."

"Very serious."

Another small pause, this time for thought.

"I remember what I've lost, now," she added. "And if working towards bending you over for a new big dick --" Ah, right, yes, she'd definitely been thinking about her strap-ons, too. "-- helps me try and get back to that? I'm gonna take it."

"You do know how I feel about you and new big dicks," Lucifer mused, smirking.

"That you're on all fours just thinking about it?"

"Yes," Lucifer said easily.

Octavia gave a soft snort.

"It might be a while," she admitted, smushing the tip of her nose against his for just a second. Like that softened the blow. "But it's gonna happen."

Lucifer ran his hand over her hair, to soothe; to tell her he wasn't heartbroken about it.

"It is," he murmured. "And until then, we're going to find all kinds of creative ways to bring out the best - or worst - in you."

"Mostly the worst," Octavia joked, but it was soft. Gentle. (Gentle towards herself, even.) "And then maybe eventually you'll be able to... pay that all back."

They'd found some outstanding ways to get her dominant side to come out and play, tonight. The other half of her... seemed much harder to get to, under these circumstances.

(But she missed that, too.)

"When it's time." Lucifer's fingers slid along her cheekbone. "You need to feel as if this is all in your control, right now, don't you?"

Octavia gave a tiny nod, not wanting to jostle his hand but also wanting to feel his fingertips brush against her skin as she did.'

"Yeah." And in a different way from her usual want for control, to boot, but he already understood the difference. "It's like it -- like no one should be able to say anything about what I do. That's what it feels like."

Lucifer nodded. "I can be that for you," he said softly.

"I know you can," Octavia murmured. Her tiny smile had faded, giving way to something a little more pensive. "And I'm grateful. 'Cause I'm --"

Big, steadying breath.

"Well, Dr. Baker says I'm... battling a lot of shame, right now."

"Shame?" Lucifer asked quietly. "Oh, love..."

His fingers trailed along her jaw.

Octavia shrugged, faintly. She was looking away again. "I guess it's just," she tried, "just that no one's supposed to have seen me like that. No one's supposed to see me... grovel, except you."

Because he was safe.

"And no one's definitely supposed to know I can get off on it."

That was where the shame came in, unsurprisingly.

Lucifer leaned in and kissed her cheek.

"You know you don't owe anyone anything about this," he said softly. "Right?"

"Half of me knows?"

That half was having a hell of a time convincing the rest of her, though.

"And who's the other half?" Lucifer murmured.

"The half carrying all the shame."
