The Cape Rouge, Somewhere Behind the Preserve, Saturday Evening

Octavia had her date nights with Lucifer, and Lucifer had a similar (thought still vastly different) routine going with Duke, but all three of them together hadn't really taken the time to do anything special for an evening in a while. So that was what tonight was for.

Duke had handled sailing the Rouge to a more secluded spot near the preserve. Lucifer was handling the food.

Octavia had... hung up some extra twinkly lights on the deck. That was important too, right? And she'd picked some stuff for the playlist too. Was still picking stuff on her phone, actually.

Maybe, but he also had a couple people hanging onto his apron as he went.

“I mean. We were totally going to try.”

There was that, yeah.

"Come on, Lucifer."

"Come on what?" Lucifer sighed.

They'd been messing with him and he had weird and probably briefly complicated feelings about it.

“I’m sorry,” Duke said. “I won’t steal any more Camembert. Please stay.”

They also felt safe to mess with him. That was another side of things.

Octavia's fingers tightened a little around Lucifer's apron strings. All smirkiness had fallen away. "Hey," she said, a little lower now. "We were just joking around."

Lucifer shut his eyes and let out a soft breath. "Obviously," he said a moment later, opening his eyes again as that inexplicable, tiny hurt faded. "It's good, isn't it? The cheese."

“I haven’t actually tried it yet,” Duke admitted, showing his stolen handful. “The Gouda was great, though.”

Octavia said nothing. She shifted, quietly, to slide her arms around Lucifer.

It was from the side, so a little awkward.

"Then eat your bloody camembert before it melts in your hand, you savage," Lucifer said, leaning into Octavia.

“Sir, yes, sir,” Duke said, and popped the entire handful into his mouth at once.

Like a savage.

Octavia couldn't help the little snort, even as she burrowed closer to Lucifer's side.

"Incorrigible," Lucifer sighed. "As punishment, you can go get us the wine."

Duke considered joking about a spanking, but decided to be good for the moment. He saluted instead, pulling away to go find a good bottle.

Octavia watched him go, her head resting against Lucifer's shoulder.

There was just something about watching him move...

"That man is just too limber for his own good," Lucifer sighed.

"Mm-hmm," Octavia hummed, as she watched Duke disappear down into the ship again.

Then she tilted her face up towards Lucifer's, and pressed a kiss against his shoulder. "You okay?" she asked, quietly.

"Hm?" Lucifer hummed. He glanced down at her, his arm curling around her waist. "Ah. Yes. Sorry."

"Nothing you have to be sorry about," Octavia murmured, and pressed another kiss right over the first one.

"Just a momentary hiccup."

Octavia nodded, then reached up to kiss him.

Just a quick, soft little thing.

For all his assurances just now, Lucifer seemed to relax into that kiss in a way he hadn't done earlier.

He perhaps prolonged it a bit beyond that soft little thing, because of it.

Prolonged it enough for Duke to come back up, bearing wine and glasses.

"So I figured I'd go for -- ah." He stopped in the doorway to just watch for a long moment.

His partners were so pretty.

And very relaxed, because Octavia could feel the shift in Lucifer's demeanor, and leaned right on into it. Drinking it in, even.

Also, she had heard Duke's voice, and the abrupt way it had then cut off. That might have factored into her drawing it out just a little bit longer.

Lucifer's hands slid down her sides and landed on her hips.

He broke away slowly, his eyes darting down to her mouth before he bothered to look towards Duke.

"Don't stop on my account," Duke told them happily. "I'm good right here watching."

He set down two of glasses and one bottle so he could pour himself some red from the other.
