Outside A Store, Baltimore, Wednesday Afternoon

Yesterday had been something of a mess, and while Octavia had fought off the worst of it, she was still feeling a little twitchy and a little restless today. So what better time to cash in Lucifer's promise to help her make some purchases that he had more expertise on than she did?

She'd left it up to him to scout them a shop on the mainland that was up to his standards. (Sorry, 'Dites, half the point of this was a little half-day trip off the island.) And now it seemed they'd made it to their destination.

"This is the place?" she checked, looking at the storefront.

Yup, that was definitely an adult toy store.

"What, all the neon triple-X signs and the lingerie didn't tip you off?" Lucifer teased, looking at the window, as well.

Octavia's eye roll seemed to involve her whole head, with the way it tipped towards him at the end.

"Just checking it's the right one," she drawled.

Look, clothing stores seemed to like to flock together, so maybe these ones would, too. She couldn't know!

"Sex shops are sex shops," Lucifer said, "The only important bit is that it doesn't look like everything's sticky from the outside."

He pushed open the door and held it for her.

"Exactly the kind of insight you're here for," Octavia rasped, stepping past him through the door.

Immediately casting some curious glances around while trying not to be obvious about it.

Various sex toys lined the shelves - they'd clearly taken out the more ridiculous ones to draw people in. There was a lingerie section to the left, and the right wall was plastered with porn DVDs.

Lucifer was already on the move, brusquely stealing into an aisle full of dildos. "This way."

Octavia gave a soft huff, but followed along easily enough.

With maybe a longer glance towards the lingerie.

"This," Lucifer said, coming to a stop with a bit of a wave, "would be the wearable dong section."

"Mm-hm," Octavia hummed with a faintly amused glance at him. It was brief: her eyes were already drawn to the shelves and everything on them. "Dicks for the dickless."

"Mhm," Lucifer hummed, amused. "Now you'll need an actual cock and a harness." He eyed the shelves. "You can ignore that first third of products on the left. It's too cheap."

Octavia kind of squinted at everything to the left and then at things more towards the center, but chose to take his word for it. She stepped past the cheap stuff to look at the products he'd deemed more worthy of their time.

"I didn't expect there to be so many colors," she admitted, her head tilting a little. "... Does that one say it glows in the dark?"

"Ah, yes, those are fun," said Lucifer, nostalgia in his voice. "But a bit too out there for our purposes. You'll want a nice, regular-sized one." He tossed Octavia a glance. "Would you want room to try different sizes later, or...?"

"Probably?" Octavia said as she looked back at him. "I mean, this isn't just about what I will like."

In retrospect, taking Duke with them might have been a good idea.

"Then we'll get a harness that accomodates some different sizes," Lucifer said, studying what was on offer. "Leather, I assume, since you'll be wearing it."

"Leather's always a good call." To make her feel comfortable, anyway. "And those look adjustable."

Anything with buckles was also a plus in her book.

"Excellent choice," Lucifer said, taking a box with the buckly thing and considering it. "It has a vibrator attachment."

He held it out for her.

Octavia took it to look it over. Yes, she was going to be overly serious about it.

And also glad that the one advantage of this time being obsessed with packaging things in cardboard and plastic was that there was usually also extra information somewhere on the box.

So she was reading that.

Lucifer made an amused noise at her expression, and then went back to the shelves to browse a few more options.

Like her little frown as she was picturing the harness in actual use, before looking up at the shelves again.

"So what do you think?" Lucifer asked.

"It's a contender," Octavia replied, tilting her head at something else with thinner straps. "Kind of feels like all my opinions are just shots i the dark, though."

"Well, we can always buy a few options and you can try them on," Lucifer said, tilting his head. "It's hardly an exact science. Might want to run around in one for a bit without actually getting to the sexy bits first, actually."

"I'm gonna take 'running around' as figurative," Octavia informed him with a little snort.

"Some walking, at least," Lucifer said, smirking. "Making sure whatever dongs we pick don't throw off your balance."

He took a vaguely thong-like leather one that wasn't boxed and held it out for her.

Octavia reached for it, while she drawled, "I'm pretty sure we're not going for anything that dramatic."

She'd spotted one or two truly terrifying things on the shelves by the entrance to the shop, though. She knew they were there.
