The Deck of the Samsara, Port of Fandom, Monday Afternoon

There was a rainbow on the dock in front of the Samsara when Octavia got back from her class in the afternoon.

... Not like in the air, or anything. And not really in a rainbow shape: it just looked like someone had painted thick, bright rainbow stripes onto the dock itself. Octavia found it kind of weird, but, considering this place? It was so much better than many other random occurrences.

And maybe it contributed to her decision to sit out on the deck of her boat for a while, reading.

Or maybe it was just a nice day outside.

[ooc: Open! There has been a little bit of a hubbub about painting rainbows in my town this past week, so here we are.]

"Did someone decide to Pride up the dock?" Lucifer called, as he ambled out of the galley a little while afterward and--

Well, it was hard to miss.

“Aw,” Duke said as he came back to the port. “Fandom’s got pride.”

Octavia looked up towards the Rouge at the sound of his voice.

"What?" she called back.

"The rainbow!" Lucifer called. "Think it's for Pride?"

Octavia squinted towards him.

She might get there? But let's face it, she'd come back in the middle of July last year, and any knowledge from further back was a little fuzzy.

"So I'm told," Octavia called, glad she didn't have to question it, this time. "Appeared on its own, like most things 'round here."

"The festivities in the month of June, to celebrate the not-so-straight among us...?"

“I like it,” Duke said. “It’s festive!”

"I'm going to take it as a sign," Lucifer called, grinning. "Specifically a 'thumbs up, keep it up fast and hard' sign."

“Not that we needed one, but it’s appreciated nonetheless,” Duke said. “How’s your day been so far?”

Between his own class and Sidon’s, he was still pretty damp and salty, and looking quite pleased with being so.

"... I forgot that was a thing."

She vaguely remembered that being a thing, now.

As he should. Damp and salty was a good look on him.

"Quiet," Lucifer said. "I woke up about an hour ago." He looked chipper about it, too. "How was your class?"

"Well, it is," Lucifer said, "And it involves a lot of rainbows."

[okteiviakom]

"It's nice," Octavia said, with a little glance over towards the stripes. "Bright."

So probably not what she would have gone for, herself, no.

“Good! I thoroughly enjoyed presumably making a couple cops walk the plank.”

[okteiviakom]

"Well, we've got one, apparently," Octavia replied. Then looked over, and reconsidered. "Or at least I do."

It was kind of right by her boat, after all.

“We’ll sure. That’s what Pride is all about. Being as bright and loud about yourself as possible.”

[okteiviakom]

"Uh huh."

They'd met, right? Because that would explain the slightly dry tone from her.

"A celebration of the fact you're still queer even if you are currently involved with two people of the opposite sex?" Lucifer suggested.

[my_own_advocate]

"Isn't that everything you've ever dreamed of?" Lucifer mused.

[okteiviakom]

"Sure?" Octavia offered.

She was bad at present-day terminology. Or thinking about the whole thing much, honestly.

"Well, you're not just into men, right?"

[okteiviakom]

"And?"

[my_own_advocate]

"And Pride is about celebrating those of us who don't live by society's oppressive norms, which here involves sleeping with people of other sexes than just what's expected of us," Lucifer said. "You of all people should embrace that."

"I'd say 'a bright strip by your house that you had nothing to do with' is probably right at the line of 'as possible' for you."
